Our History
Masjid Al-Islam, established in 1970, is dedicated to seeking the blessings of Allah (SWT) through the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Imam Yusuf Abdullah served faithfully from 1977, representing Tennessee in the Southern Association of Masjids and Centers. Today, Imam Hamid Abdullah continues that tradition as Resident Imam.
ABOUT US

1965- Earnest X - Founded the Mohammed masqe study group
1967- Minister Clarence X grew and continued to grow the study group and establishe the community
1970 — Founded as Mosque No. 60 under the Nation of Islam.
1970–Present — Closely connected with Clara Mohammed School, providing Islamic education.
1975 — Transitioned into Sunni Islam under Imam W.D. Mohammed; renamed Masjid Al-Islam.

Clara Mohammed School
The Clara Mohammed School, established in 1971, has been closely connected with Masjid Al-Islam. It provides children with both academic excellence and Islamic education, preparing young Muslims to succeed in life while staying grounded in faith.
Nikah Services
Masjid Al-Islam offers Nikah (marriage) services for the Muslim community. Families can arrange a Nikah ceremony that is conducted in accordance with Islamic teachings and traditions. For scheduling and requirements, please contact the masjid office.
Funeral Services
The masjid provides Janazah (funeral) services assisting families in arranging funeral prayers and offering guidance in times of loss. The community is here to support you during these important moments.
Daily prayers & Jumu’ah
(Friday 1 PM)
We hold daily prayers to bring the community together in worship and reflection. Jumu’ah (Friday) prayers are held every Friday at 1:00 PM, offering a special opportunity for collective prayer and spiritual growth. Everyone is welcome to join.
Taaleem
(Sunday 11 AM)
Taaleem takes place every Sunday at 11:00 AM, providing a dedicated time for learning and spiritual development. It’s a chance to gain knowledge, strengthen faith, and connect with the community. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Our community outreach and zakat distribution programs support those in need and promote compassion, generosity, and unity within the community.
