Masjid Al-Islam of Nashville

Where faith and community flourish since 1971.

3620 Buena Vista Pike, Nashville, TN 37218

Masjid Al-Islam was founded in 1970 as mosque number 60 under the Nation of Islam.

After the passing of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1975, the community came under the leadership of Imam W.D. Muhammad. The mosque transitioned into mainstream Sunni Islam and was renamed Masjid Al-Islam.

It’s located at 3620 Buena Vista Pike, Nashville, TN 37218.

It has been a central institution for African American Muslims in Nashville, closely connected to the Clara Mohammed School, which also began in 1970 to provide education.
